India continued their winning run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they beat Afghanistan by eight wickets on Wednesday, October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Captain Rohit Sharma starred with the bat as he broke several records during his scintillating knock of 131 off 84 balls with the help of 16 fours and five sixes.

The Indian skipper registered the fastest hundred in ODI World Cup by an Indian (63 balls), most hundreds in the history of ODI World Cup (7), most sixes in international cricket (556) and also became the joint-fastest batter to complete 1000 runs in ODI World Cup. Furthermore, Rohit also registered his 31st ODI hundred and rose to third spot in list of most centuries in ODIs surpassing Ricky Ponting (30 hundreds).

Apart from him, Ishan Kishan (47 off 47) and Virat Kohli (55* off 56) also made valuable contributions as India chased down the target of 273 in 35 overs. Rohit was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for his record-shattering innings.
