Suryakumar Yadav, on Sunday (November 19), had the opportunity to become an instant hero in the ongoing World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

He walked out to bat in the 36th over when Team India were in a precarious situation and were reeling at 178 for 5. With a well-set KL Rahul at the other end, the onus was on Suryakumar Yadav to score some quick runs and give the innings the much-needed impetus.

However, the right-handed batsman failed to deliver when it was most needed. While he stayed till the 48th over, he just could not help the team accelerate. He was eventually dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. The Mumbai star scored 18 runs off 28 balls and was the ninth Indian wicket to fall.
