Bengal cricketer Manoj Tiwary expressed his anger over the things happening in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023. He said that the domestic tournament should be scrapped as it is losing its charm and importance.
The ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy has been keeping everyone engaged with impressive performances by the players and teams. There has been equally high competition between bat and ball even though it’s still early stages of the tournament.
There have been many key performers in the tournament as many young players have played magnificently well. Manoj Tiwary, who is captaining Bengal currently, is also having a great time in the Ranji Trophy 2024. Both as skipper as well as batter, he has been on the top.
Manoj Tiwary slammed a blistering ton against Assam in Guwahati. He led from the front and helped Bengal win their first game of the season. His team thumped the opposition by an innings and 162 runs and gained important points early on in the season.
Despite having a decent time in the ongoing tournament, Manoj Tiwary called for the tournament to end permanently for next season. He made a bold claim, saying that there are many things wrong in the tournament.
Manoj Tiwary believes that the Ranji Trophy is losing its charm and importance. He expressed his frustration, saying that many things needed to be looked into to save the prestigious tournament. Taking to his Twitter account, he explained:
“Ranji trophy should be scrapped off from the calendar from the next season onwards. So many things going wrong in the tournament. So many things need to looked into in order to save this prestigious tournament which has a rich history. It’s losing its charm and importance. Absolutely frustrated.”

Match against Bihar will be my last in the Ranji Trophy – Manoj Tiwary
Manoj Tiwary after that tweet went live on Facebook to open up about what made him write such comments. He said that he will be playing his last game against Bihar and after that, he will reveal a lot of things. The Bengal skipper opted against revealing information because of BCCI’s code of conduct.
Manoj Tiwary also opened up about the one venue of the tournament. He said that his team cannot plan anything in the dressing room because whatever they talk their voices go to the other team’s dressing room. The batter has been an incredible servant for Bengal.
“I’ll tell a lot of things after next match vs Bihar that is going to be my last match. Can’t say right now because of BCCI code of conduct. There are many things wrong with Ranji Trophy”

Last year he called time on his career but later decided to play one more season for his team.
“It was a proud moment for me to captain Bengal to the final last season. I want to give it one more try before leaving. Next year, there will not be any more U-turn. I want to give one more year to Bengal cricket,” Tiwary had said in a press conference
Under his leadership, Bengal made it to the Ranji final twice in the last three seasons. But, they lost to Saurashtra on both occasions.
