India captain Rohit Sharma was on a record-breaking spree during Match 9 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan on Wednesday, October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The opening batter came out to bat in fifth gear as he unleashed his beast mode on the Afghan bowlers.

Rohit first became the joint-fastest batter to score 1000 runs in ODI World Cup reaching the milestone in 19 innings. Before him, Australian opener David Warner also achieved the same feat during their game against India. He further etched his name in record books as he registered most sixes in international cricket by pulling Naveen ul Haq over deep square leg for a maximum. Rohit surpassed Chris Gayle’s tally of 553 international sixes and rose to the top of the list.
