Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth hailed former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Sreesanth said that MS Dhoni supported many players but he would never say it due to his humble nature.

MS Dhoni is the most successful skipper of India who led the team to three ICC titles under his captainship. Under Dhoni’s captainship, youngsters like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli among others became stars.

MS Dhoni also gets the credit to evolve Rohit Sharma into a powerful opener. It was Dhoni who proposed Sharma to bat as an opener in ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Later, Sharma termed it a career-changing move.

While speaking to Sportskeeda, former India pacer S Sreesanth said that Dhoni would never say that he made Rohit Sharma’s career.

“Dhoni would never say he made Rohit Sharma’s career. I know him really well. We can say that because Dhoni gave him an opportunity. Why did he give him an opportunity? Because he knew that at that number he will do well. Be it Raina, Virat or Ashwin for that matter,” he said.

Sreesanth also added that Dhoni played a big role in his career as well. Sreesanth was part of the Dhoni-led team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.

“Mahi bhai has played a big role even in my career, everybody’s career. Nobody can change that. But why did he do that? Because he knew that if he supports those players, they will go to the next level. Maybe he gave the support to us that he himself didn’t get,” the former right-arm pacer further added.
