The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup witnessed an epic showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ensured it began with a spectacular pre-match ceremony. With an array of esteemed musicians and celebrities, the event promised an electrifying start to the highly anticipated cricket clash.

Arijit Singh Steals the Show

One of the most anticipated acts of the pre-match ceremony was the performance by the soulful singer Arijit Singh. He set the stage on fire with his enchanting voice, captivating the audience with some of his melodious tracks. Arijit Singh’s renditions included songs like ‘Tum Kya Mile’ from ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ and ‘Lehra Do’ from the film ’83’.

To the delight of fans, he also sang several other hits, such as ‘Chaleya’, ‘Heerieye’, ‘Ae Watan’, ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’, and even a Gujarati folk song, showcasing the rich diversity of Indian music.

A Star-Studded Lineup

The musical extravaganza didn’t end with Arijit Singh. Sunidhi Chauhan delivered an energetic performance that had the audience grooving. Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder Singh, renowned playback singers, graced the ceremony with their iconic songs, including ‘Bumbro Bumbro’ and ‘Suno Gaur Se Duniya Walo,’ among others. The grand finale was a heartwarming rendition of ‘Vande Mataram,’ with all the talented singers joining forces to sing the national song of India.

Exclusively for Match Attendees

While the spectators at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad were treated to these exceptional live performances, cricket enthusiasts watching from home were left bewildered by the absence of the ceremony from televised broadcasts or online streams. The decision to keep these performances exclusive to the match attendees left fans longing for a glimpse of the remarkable show.

Star-Studded Spectators

The star-studded cricket clash saw iconic figures from the film industry, with Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth gracing the event. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, actress Anushka Sharma, and Athiya Shetty, wife of cricketer KL Rahul, were also among the prominent personalities present in the stadium to cheer for the Men in Blue as they faced Pakistan in this epic showdown.
