The star Gujarat Titans (GT) bowling all-rounder Rashid Khan has dropped a massive ‘unhappy’ statement on his campaign in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

Rashid Khan is regarded as one of the best T20 cricketers in the world and he has dominated all across the globe with his sensational leg-spin bowling and explosive power-hitting. Since the addition of the Gujarat Titans (GT) to the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has been one of the top performers for the franchise.

However, the performance of the 25-year-old Afghanistan star wasn’t that impressive in the first few matches of the Indian Premier League 2024. He went wicketless in Gujarat Titans’ tournament opener against Mumbai Indians and in the next match against Chennai Super Kings, he conceded 49 runs but was successful in picking 2 wickets.

In the next four matches of the league, Rashid Khan picked up one wicket each, but his best performance came in GT’s previous match against Rajasthan Royals where he registered figures of 1/18 with the ball and smashes sensational 24* runs to steer his side to a win in the thrilling encounter.

Rashid Khan would be hoping to perform even better in the upcoming games for GT in the ongoing edition of the league. The Shubman Gill-led side will next take on the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 17 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Speaking to ANI ahead of the clash against DC, Rashid Khan opened up about his struggles in the initial matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as he was coming to the league after surgery. The all-rounder openly said that he is unhappy with the number of wickets he has picked so far in the IPL 2024.

“In the first three games, I struggled a bit coming after the surgery; it wasn’t easy to get back to my own rhythm.

“I am so happy in the last two to three games, I have played how my body allowed me to enjoy my bowling and I am quite happy with that. Wicket-wise, I am not happy with that but that is what T20 cricket is all about.”

I will do my best to take more wickets in the last eight games – Rashid Khan

Despite being unhappy, Rashid Khan added that he will give his hundred percent in all upcoming matches for GT and try to add more wickets to his tally.

“Sometimes you need to play a little role, which helps the team to win the game and I am trying my best to play that little role. In any part where I can change the momentum of the game, I try my best. I will do my best to take more wickets in the last eight games,” said Rashid.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024, Shubman Gill took over the leadership of Gujarat Titans after all-rounder Hardik Pandya left the franchise to join Mumbai Indians (MI).

Talking about the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan heaped huge praise on the India star, saying that he has been leading from the front and has helped the players perform to the best of their ability.

“He has been great since Day 1. It is so good to see him; he is leading from the front. The way he has been delivering with the bat even though he has captaincy on his shoulders. He is someone who tries to do his best as well, doesn’t matter what the condition or situation is.”

“He is delivering the best for the team and I think he has been delivering the best in captaincy as well. He is helping the guys in the right way to perform, which is so pleasing to see,” Rashid Khan added.
