Toss plays a very important role in determining the outcome of any cricket game and there is absolutely no denying that winning it can give a big advantage to any team. Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer definitely knows it as he tried a very innovative way to ensure he wins the toss ahead of the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens.

The KKR captain was given the coin for the toss. However, before throwing the coin in the air, Shreyas Iyer was seen kissing it. His RR counterpart Sanju Samson did not notice it but commentator Sanjay Manjrekar did and he promptly pointed it out.

The kiss, however, did not work out as Sanju Samson made the right call. And as the RR captain walked up to Manjrekar for the interview, the former India batsman asked him about Shreyas Iyer’s gesture first. Sanju Samson looked surprised at Iyer’s gesture after being made aware of it as he said: “Did he?”.  The RR star then turned back to look at Iyer and had a laugh before continuing the interview.

Samson opted to bowl first after winning the toss and said: “We would like to bowl first. Might be better to chase on this. Very much excited to be back in Eden Gardens, there’s a great vibe in the stadium. Jos and Ash are available for this game, so they are coming back.”

On the other hand, Iyer said that his team would have liked to bowl first as well, saying: Would have loved to bowl as well based on the last game, on how the ball moved around. Whenever he (Narine) comes in, he is hard to read and he’s got that poker face all throughout, we want him to perform him the way he has. We are playing the same team.
